Bounty Terms of Service
Last updated: July 22, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Bounty Accountability LLC ("Bounty," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Bounty mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. The Service
Bounty lets you set personal goals and back them with a financial commitment. When you create a goal, you agree to a "commitment contract" that specifies a goal, verification requirements, check-in schedule, and a penalty amount that you authorize us to charge if you do not meet the commitment.
3. Commitments, check-ins, and penalties
- Authorization to charge. When you create a commitment, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge the penalty amount you specify to your selected payment method if you fail to meet the commitment as verified through the Service.
- Verification. Check-ins are verified through the methods you select, which may include photo or location data, and may use automated review. You agree that the verification result determines whether a commitment was met.
- Charges. If a check-in fails, the associated penalty becomes due and may be charged automatically. Charges are processed by Stripe. Processing fees may apply and, where a penalty is paid to another user, additional fees may be deducted as disclosed in the app.
- Payouts to others. Some commitments direct penalty payments to another person. By creating such a commitment, you authorize the corresponding payout, less any applicable fees.
- Commitments directed to a charity (legacy). Charity designation is no longer offered for new commitments. For an existing commitment that designated a charity, the penalty remains a payment to Bounty Accountability LLC. After we collect such a penalty, Bounty donates an amount equal to the penalty from its own funds to the selected charity through a third-party donations intermediary (currently Pledgeling Technologies, Inc., "Pledge"), which disburses donations on its own schedule. The donation is made by Bounty, not by you: you are not the donor of record, you will not receive a donation receipt, and the donation is not tax-deductible for you. Charity listings are provided by the intermediary; if a donation to the selected charity cannot reasonably be completed (for example, the organization is delisted or unable to receive funds), we will donate the amount to a comparable charity instead. We do not share your name or contact information with the intermediary or the charity.
- No retention by Bounty. Bounty does not keep forfeited penalties. A commitment's penalty goes to the recipient chosen when the commitment is created — your designated accountability partner or, for legacy commitments, the charity donation flow described above. A legacy commitment created without a recipient is not charged. Penalty payouts are subject to the payment-processing fees disclosed in the app. If a penalty cannot be delivered to its designated recipient, it is not charged.
- Binding commitment. You acknowledge that commitments are binding and effective upon agreement, and that you are responsible for the resulting charges.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms. You agree to provide accurate payment information and to keep it current. You are responsible for all charges incurred under your account, including applicable taxes and fees. You may remove a saved payment method in the app's Settings; doing so does not cancel obligations already incurred.
5. Refunds and disputes
Except as required by law, penalty charges are non-refundable once incurred, because they reflect commitments you chose to make. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at bountyacctblty@gmail.com and we will review it in good faith. Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in suspension of your account.
6. Your responsibilities and acceptable use
You agree not to:
- provide false or misleading information, including falsified check-in evidence;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it; or
- infringe the rights of others or upload content you do not have the right to share.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
7. Community guidelines and content standards
Bounty includes social features (an activity feed, photos, comments, and friend connections) where you may see content shared by other users. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You agree not to post, send, or otherwise share content that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens, or abuses another person;
- is hateful, discriminatory, or promotes violence against individuals or groups;
- contains nudity, sexually explicit material, or graphic violence;
- impersonates another person or misrepresents your identity or affiliation; or
- is spam, or otherwise exploits or endangers minors.
You can report objectionable content or abusive users, and block other users, directly within the app. We review reports and may remove violating content, and may suspend or terminate the accounts of users who violate this section, at our discretion and without prior notice.
8. User content
You retain ownership of the photos and other content you submit. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and use that content as necessary to operate the Service, including transmitting it to third-party providers for verification as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Account termination
You may stop using the Service, and delete your account, at any time from the app's Settings screen. You may also request deletion by contacting us at bountyacctblty@gmail.com. We retain transaction records required for tax, legal, and anti-fraud purposes as described in our Privacy Policy even after account deletion. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Obligations incurred before termination (including penalties already due) survive termination.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that verification will be error-free or that the Service will be uninterrupted or secure.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bounty Accountability LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in Utah, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
